Jesus Christ would be a Prophet.

Scripture pointed to Jesus being a prophet amongst many other titles that were being attributed to him.  The following was written in the book of Deuteronomy about 1400bc by Moses :-

Deuteronomy chapter 18 verse 15, The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.

Deuteronomy chapter 18 verse 18, I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.

The book of John was written by the Apostle John about 85ad.  Christ had long been crucified but during his time on earth he had indeed spoken and acted with the authority of God.

John chapter 5 verse 24; I (Jesus) tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him (God) who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed from death to life.

John chapter 5 verses 36-40; I (Jesus) have testimony weightier than that of John.  For the very work that the Father (God) has given me to finish, and which I am doing, testifies that the Father has sent me.  And the Father who sent me has Himself testified concerning me.  You have never heard His voice or seen His form nor does His word dwell in you for you do not believe the one He sent.  You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life.  These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

Even though they were foretold about Jesus’ coming some 1400 years before he did the religious leaders and many of the people still refused to believe.  They did not take the advice written in Deuteronomy to listen.

Jesus Christ would be a Priest.

Psalm 110 predicts that Jesus would also hold the title of priest this was written about 1000bc.

Psalm 110 verse 4; The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”

The priest/king Melchizedek is first mentioned in the book of Genesis chapter 14 verse 18.  The book of Hebrews written approximately 64ad confirms that this prediction came true

Hebrews chapter 5 verses 4-6; No-one takes this honour (high priest) upon himself; he must be called by God just as Aaron was.  So Christ also did not take upon himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father.”  And he says in another place, “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”

Hebrews chapter 6 verse 20; where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

Hebrews chapter 7 verses 14-17; For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests.  And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears,  one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life.  For it is declared: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”
