Words

Words after words lines in random order

Telling-explaining-exceeding the border

Words on a page can be safer than spoken

Or often a danger and peace will be broken

Eight or ten words can be squeezed into one

And Thy will not my will, yes, God’s will be done

See?

Replace one small word and the meaning will change

Yes, words needs some thought and much time to arrange

Spelling preferred if put down to be seen

Important to you that ‘they’ know what you mean

The word has its power a YES or a NO

My mouth needs training-it decides where I go

Emotional words can spill beyond repair

Think what you’re saying-step back-be aware

I don’t want my speech to mean little to you

I want to keep my word and my word to ring true

Consider the Word of God-He speaks

They echo alive with no need of repeats

There are times and emotions that needn’t be said

But it is hard to be silent and listen instead

Since being word conscious I’ll pledge for today

To check before speaking and mindful to say

I’ll practice to listen – for here’s where I’m flawed

‘Cos while I keep talking, I can’t hear the Lord

Unless it’s unselfishly helpful and true then

I’ll hear what God saying and chatter less too then
