Forever Employed
I long to be a servant,
To give instead of get,
Loving others – help my brothers –
I’ll be unselfish yet.
I’m happy being humble-
Not all will understand,
But time will show, as on I go
Directed by God’s hand.
Selfishness and vanity,
envying the mob,
Those things I’ve got, but surely not
Requirements of the job!
For God’s been wanting new recruits
I’ve offered up my heart,
He never asked about my past
But said, ‘When can you start?’
Though I never seem to do my share,
His love remains abundant,
Though not matured, I’m reassured
I won’t be made redundant!
I need to clean and dust my mind
and hoover (vacuum) out my greed,
Because when all is said and done,
God’s simply all I need.
