Here and Now
Love has hurt my heart tonight
Overwhelming – deep and raw
Not only smashed and scraped my peace
But set alight – inflamed my core
And if it lingers there – I fear
I just might die – in soul and mind
With some relief that doesn’t care
And keen to leave this hell behind
I also know this dread quite well
This downward rush of dark distress
This state will pass – will come and go
But does not make this hurting less
For often there are ‘here’s’ and ‘now’s’
And seasons to be serious
With room and space for lighter days
With JESUS now and here with us
For life alone without our GOD
Is like death row without appeal
And no one can deny their soul
For GOD is love and love is real.
